2013 Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos
Honoring family that have passed away
The Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos as the Latin American originators call it, is not a Halloween thing, but a day to honor friends and relatives who have passes away. It is generally on the 1st and 2nd of November, but in the US many combine it with Halloween activiites.
It is tradtion to have alters of ancestor worship that tell a story and honor the lives of their relatives. You will also have the opportunity to witness Latin American music, dance and artwork. It is common to paint their bodies as skeletons. Some are very good and anyone can join in.
Location: Oct 27 & 28 - Seattle Center Armory /Center House -
Nov 2 - Phinney Center 6615 Dayton Ave. N. Seattle, WA
* This is a celebration of lives not mourning.
* Be a part of the fun. If you are an artist or know an artist have your face painted as a skeleton - Guaranteed to meet a lot of people that way.
